A loud knock awoke Harry Potter early one summer's morning. No one ever knowingly knocked on his door. He opened it to see his best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, grinning at him. His jaw dropped open and they laughed.
'What are you doing here?' he grinned. 'Come in!'
'We thought we'd drop by,' Ron said, looking around Harry's room. 'This is your room? Tough luck, mate.'
'Shut up,' Harry smirked. 'At least I don't have a ghoul making a racket in my ceiling.'
'How've you been, Harry?' Hermione asked. 'How have the Dursleys been treating you?'
'Quite well, actually,' Harry said. 'They're all so afraid I'll turn them into warthogs the moment I turn seventeen that they've stopped speaking to me at all; it's quite pleasant.' He sat down on his bed. 'So why are you really here?'
'Well,' Hermione said. 'You know the Burrow is being used as Headquarters now, so we decided to get out of the way so Order members could use that space. So... you two are going to stay at my house. If you want to, of course,' she added hastily.
'Want to?' Harry asked. 'Of course I want to! When can we leave?'
'Oh, my parents aren't expecting us back until tomorrow. We figured since we're already here we might as well go into London and buy our school things. We'll stay here tonight. Don't worry,' Hermione added at Harry's protests. 'We've worked it all out with your aunt and uncle. Ron and I will have to stay in here, but we've brought blankets.
'We figured you'd want to get out of here as soon as possible.' Hermione continued, 'so let's go to Diagon Alley now and then we can do whatever we want later.'
'All right,' Harry said. 'Let's go!"
Once they had gotten back to the Dursleys' and unloaded all their shopping into Harry's closet, they set about figuring out where Ron and Hermione would sleep.
'One of you can take the bed.' Harry said. 'I'll sleep on the floor.'
'I couldn't do that,' Hermione said. 'That's your bed; I'd feel terrible just barging in and taking it.'
'I love your concience, Hermione,' Ron said. 'Thanks mate.' He flopped onto the bed and stretched out. 'Ah.'
Hermione rolled her eyes and muttered something that sounded like, 'Boys.' Harry and Ron grinned at each other.
'Can I meet your cousin, Harry?' Hermione said. 'Everyone else has.'
'Erm... do you really want to?' Harry said. 'He's basically just a mutated pig, really.' Ron snorted with laughter. Hermione pursed her lips disapprovingly. 'All right, this way.' Harry told her. He led her to Dudley's room.
'It's this one. Just... erm... don't say anything involving magic.' he said, hurrying back to his room.
'Is she actually going to do it?' Ron asked.
'I think so,' Harry said. They exchanged looks and burst out laughing.
((More coming later. Just something I'm playing around with.))
